Dr. Marcie Grill is proud to be the Director of Homeschooling and Independent Study Programs at Pacific Charter Institute.. Dr. Grill has been an educator for over 15 years, including being a home school support teacher for many of those. She received her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of the Pacific. She has home-schooled her eldest daughter for the last five years. She is passionate about the arts because she has witnessed first hand its power inspiring learning, and hopes that the Homeschool Guild can be a vehicle for reaching more students and igniting their potential.
Nancy Bean has been working as a homeschool and independent study support teacher for more than 10 years. She has experience supporting students and families using a wide variety of curricula, philosophies, and approaches.Nancy takes joy in seeing her students learn and grow over the years and she takes pride in doing what she can to make every student's learning experience positive and unique. Nancy has homeschooled her own children over the years and has seen the benefits that tailoring learning to an individual child can bring. Nancy earned B.A.s in German and Psychology from UCSB and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Cal State East Bay.
Matt K. Miller has made his living as an actor for over thirty years in theatre ("an Enemy of the People" with Royal National Theatre, etc.), film ("Gods and Generals", etc.), and television (star of "Tenchi Muyo" on Cartoon Network, etc.). He is also an accomplished director, playwright and teacher (Master Teacher for STC Conservatory, adjunct faculty at Sacramento City College).
Cynthia Spolidoro has been teaching visual arts for the last fifteen years in the Elk Grove area. She enjoys teaching drawing, optical illusions, and mixed media among others. She likes encouraging her students to explore with different creative mediums to complete a single piece. Cynthia homeschooled her two children all through school and looks forward to homeschooling her grandchild in the future.
Lori Ward a Sacramento native and homeschool mom to two daughters, Lori taught in a public school for 15 years prior to the birth of her oldest daughter. She has a BA in Liberal Studies, a MS in School Counseling. She is interested in art, writing, reading, history, the environment, hiking, yoga and interpersonal relationships. She enjoys encouraging students to discover and express themselves through writing.
Lynn Baker has 20+ years experience in acting, directing, teaching, and producing theatre. She holds a BA in Theatre from UC Berkeley and recently received her Ma in Counseling Psychology. She enjoys teaching youth and has been instrumental in starting youth theatre programs in our area.
